PRESS RELEASE

HISI, the healthcare infrastructure platform of the ANIA F2i Fund, acquires C2i,
a large portfolio of hospital concessions in Northern and Central Italy

Milan, 16 January 2025 - HISI (Holding Investimento Sanità e Infrastrutture), the platform of the ANIA F2i Fund focused on public-private partnerships (PPP) in Italy, has completed the acquisition of 100% of C2i (Concessioni Investimenti Infrastrutturali) from Infracapital, the infrastructure investment division of M&G Plc.
C2i holds a portfolio of equity investments in three companies that manage public-private partnership concessions in northern and central Italy, providing essential non-healthcare services to Vimercate Hospital, north of Milan, Empoli Hospital and Careggi University Hospital, north of Florence.
Specifically, C2i holds the following shareholdings:

  • 43% of Vimercate salute S.p.A., the concessionaire for the construction and management of non-healthcare services at the 560-bed Vimercate Hospital. The concession includes a 6 megawatt cogeneration plant.
  • 92% of Empoli Salute S.p.A., the concessionaire for the construction and management of the 431-bed Empoli hospital (including a 2 megawatt cogeneration plant).
  • 52.5% of Seneca Energia Careggi S.r.l., concessionaire for the construction and management of a 10.6 megawatt cogeneration plant supplying energy to the Careggi Hospital in Florence.

As a result of the C2i acquisition, HISI will double the number of concessions in its portfolio and increase the number of beds served from 1,350 to approximately 2,400. The businesses acquired as a result of C2i's entry into the HISI platform will be added to those already held in the concessions for the management of non-healthcare services at the Nuovo Ospedale di Legnano in Lombardy, the Alba-Bra Hospital in Piedmont and the Polo Ospedaliero di Este Monselice (Veneto).

Paolo Soldani, Chief Executive Officer of HISI, commented: “HISI invests in infrastructure projects in the hospital sector through public-private partnerships, providing public administrations with a high-standing, long-term private partner such as the F2i funds. This transaction consolidates HISI's role in the PPP hospital sector and represents an important milestone in the company's strategy to position itself as a leading investor in the sector. The acquisition of C2i, which will now see HISI operating in four different Italian regions with approximately 2,400 beds, underscores our commitment to drive growth and innovation in the hospital PPP sector, improving both operational efficiency and the delivery of essential public services.”
