2i Aeroporti invests in infrastructure dedicated to Advanced Air Mobility for electric vehicles with vertical landing and take-off through Skyports

 

Milan, 29 March 2022 - 2i Aeroporti, Italy’s largest airport platform controlled by infrastructure funds F2i and Ardian, has participated in the capital increase of Skyports, a leading global operator in the design and management of vertiports and drone delivery and inspection services. 

 

With this operation, F2i and Ardian, through the holding company 2i Aeroporti, confirm their commitment to supporting the development of new-generation infrastructure, encouraging technological innovation and a sustainable evolution of air transport and urban mobility.

 

Skyports raised $23 million in the closing of the Series B funding round, which also the participation, along with 2i Aeroporti, of Deutsche Bahn Digital Ventures, Aeroports de Paris Group, Solar Ventus, Irelandia, Levitate Capital, Kanematsu Corporation and US venture capital firm GreenPoint.

 

The capital raised will allow Skyports to develop its presence in the world, also by leveraging on a consolidated relationship with the major manufacturers and operators of electric air taxis, to whom it will provide the necessary take-off and landing infrastructures, among others in the United Kingdom, the USA, Asia, France and Italy where, last October, it signed a partnership agreement with Sea, a subsidiary of 2i Aeroporti which manages the Milan Linate and Malpensa airports, for the development of the first network of vertiports in Italy, starting from the city of Milan and the Lombardy region. F2i and Ardian intend to support the development of the infrastructure of the vertiports in all the areas where their airports are located and in the main cities with the greatest demand, with the aim, among other things, of decarbonising, decongesting and reducing the acoustic impact of urban and air traffic.
